Trust In The Lod

Trust in the Lord

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight”, “…put your trust in the Lord your God and you will be established. Put your trust in His prophets and succeed,”  “…blessed is he who trusts in the Lord,” “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord And whose trust is the Lord” are Scripture statements in Proverbs, 2nd Chronicles and Jeremiah.

A common word above is “trust”.  My dictionary describes “trust’ when used as a noun;  “firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something; acceptance of the truth of a statement without evidence or investigation:”  Used as a verb; ”believe in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of: allow someone to have, use, or look after (someone or something of importance or value) with confidence: commit (someone or something) to the safekeeping of:”  It’s root implies “strong”.

“Trust in the Lord” is the common statement.  The Lord, the Creator, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the one who gave His only begotten Son to be our Redeemer is who we are referring to.

Have you noticed that it is increasingly difficult to know what or who to believe in this world?  Have you discovered that lying, defaulting on a vow, cheating to get ahead, being unfaithful and much more seem to be “the norm”?  Persons and organizations ask you to “trust them”, and then bring disappointment because they do not live up the the word or promise given.  We are told to teach our young children not to trust anyone. Distrust seems to be rampant. How sad.  No wonder so many express hopelessness.

Just last evening, I was reading an account of a man who was renowned as an atheistic scientist.  His testimony was that for fifty years he believed the Theory of Evolution, and taught it passionately based on his trust in the science he gave his life to.  Then, he said that having been taught to follow a belief to its end, that same science let him to God the Creator of Heaven and Earth.  His studies discounted the so-called “Big Bang Theory” as he discovered that something / anything without life could not produce life, that only a living tissue, plant or entity was capable of reproduction. He also discovered and proved to himself the “Laws of Nature” are consistent and orderly.  Hence, he proved to himself and began to refute his own teachings about the Theory of Evolution, by writing of the proof of a “living, intelligent being” that had to have created the world. By the time he passed from this earth, he had put his trust in the Lord.  I rehearsed that to say this - If that educated scientist who had given his life to disbelief, and distrust concerning the very existence of a God who had created the universe could prove to himself and change his mind, any of us could certainly do the same.

This Creator God is referred to “as the God of Hope” in Scripture which also says “faith, hope and love abide forever”.

Today, if you don’t know which way to turn, or you don’t what what to believe, or who to trust, seek the Lord Most High.  Seek Him with all your heart, and you shall find Him. Inquire of Him - in prayer and through His Word, and He will reveal that He, above all else in this world can be trusted.  He honors His Word above His name, and His name is the name above all names. He remains faithful even if I / we become unfaithful.  His Word is Truth. He cannot lie. When we honestly say “My trust is in you O Lord, my God”, He becomes our protector, our provider, and the one who leads us into all truth. He warns us of things to come. He can be trusted, after all, He is our Creator, the maker of Heaven and Earth, the Almighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of all Peace and much more.

I have learned, and continue to learn to “Trust in the Lord with all my heart”. My prayer is that you and your household do so as well.  This is Independence Day weekend. Learn to be independent of the worlds ways, but fully dependent on the Lord our God. Rejoice and take time to establish or re-establish your trust in the Lord.  May grace and peace multiply as you grow in knowledge of Christ, our Redeemer - the one who ever lives to make intercession for us.  You can trust Him.
